Just a few updates
1) Our Semiannual 5k Run for Shelter is going to be held on Sunday 10/30, and this semester it’s going to be Halloween themed so feel free to wear your costumes! Registration is at 11am and the race will start at 11:30. You
can sign up early for a discount – http://habitatumd.org/?page_id=119 and this year we’re trying something new – if you sign up, we’ll bump you to the top of one build trip list!
2) We’re going to North Carolina for winter break! The trip will cost $300 and run from 1/15 to 1/20 or 1/21. More details at the 10/11 meeting. Sign up is now live here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHJjSHRydko5b2tsOGpaS1lzQmZhbVE6MA
3) We’re having a BBQ! We’ll be grilling out on the Washington Quad 6:30 - 7:30 on Tuesday 10/25. Stop by to grab a burger, play some volleyball, and sign up for the winter break trip. In case of rain, we’ll head back to our normal meeting room, JMZ 0205, at 7pm.
4) And for those of you who didn’t get my last email (I know we’ve added a lot of new members to the listserv since I sent the last message), here’s the schedule for the semester. The date in parenthesis is the date of the meeting that you should attend to sign up for the trip. Just a reminder about our sign up policy – while you are allowed to sign up for trips via email, no matter if you send you email before the meeting or after, you will not be added to the list until after everyone at the meeting has signed up (and the past two trips have comepletely filled up at the meeting with a waitlist). Meetings are at 7pm in JMZ 0205

Welcome back everyone, hope you all had a great summer! We’ve got a lot planned for this semester and wanted to fill you in on some information and our build trip schedule.
Meetings:
This semester, our meetings will be Tuesday, 7pm in Jimenez 0205
Build Trip Schedule:
For those of you who are new, to come on a build trip all you need to do is sign up at the meeting before the trip you wish to attend. The first date below is the trip and the date following it in parenthesis is the meeting date to sign up for that trip:

Trip information for new members:
If you’re new to habitat, we just wanted to give you a quick overview of how we work. As mentioned, our meetings are really just to sign up for trips that you want to attend. If you can’t make the meeting, email us or stop by our office hours to sign up, but preference is given to those who come to the meeting.
Here’s the schedule for a typical build trip:
7:45 pickup at Hoff Theater / Stamp
8 pickup at 7-11 on Knox Road
9 Arrive at Habitat Warehouse
9:30 Arrive at house and begin work
12 Stop for lunch at Lexington Market (Bring your lunch or $5-$6 to buy something at the market)
1 Go back to work
5 Arrive back in College Park
Fundraising:
We also hold fundraising events throughout the semester – we’ll be sending out information about them as the semester progresses, so stay tuned.
